What is Glowfoto Mobile?
Glowfoto Mobile is a new service from Glowfoto that allows registered users to upload images from their camera phones directly into their Glowfoto accounts.

What service/phone do I need for this?
Any phone that lets you send pictures as email attachments will work. Right now we know for sure that this works with T-Mobile and Cingular users using Nokia and Motorola phones. But it should work no matter what your plan/phone type is.

If you are having trouble making Glowfoto Mobile work, contact us and we'll try to help you get it going.

Why should I use Glowfoto Mobile?
Here's a few reasons why Glowfoto Mobile will be useful to you:

  • By uploading photos to Glowfoto, you can delete them from your camera and free up space for new pics.
  • Glowfoto Mobile allows you to share your camera phone pics instantly with your friends and family.
  • You can use photos sent to Glowfoto through Glowfoto Mobile exactly as you use any other image, which includes posting on message boards, commenting, etc.
  • It's free!

Technical Issues
What do I have to do to get started?
First, you'll need to let Glowfoto know what your camera phone's email address is. You can do that here.

Once that's done, Glowfoto will send you a confirmation email (to your phone) letting you know that everything is ready to go. Then you can start emailing photos to mobile@glowfoto.com right away.

What happens when I email a photo to Glowfoto Mobile?
After you email your photo to mobile@glowfoto.com, Glowfoto creates an album in your gallery called Mobile (if there isn't one already), and copies your image(s) into it.

Is the Mobile album public, private, or what?
At first the album is public, but you can edit it just like any other album once it has been created -- this means you can make your Mobile album password protected or "friends-only" if you want, and you can of course change the name and description of the Mobile album. You can even move your phone camera pics into other albums if you want.

The only thing to remember is if you change the name of your Mobile album to anything other than Mobile, Glowfoto will create a new Mobile album the next time you send photos to Glowfoto Mobile.

I emailed a photo and nothing happened!
If you email Glowfoto Mobile a photo but it doesn't appear in your gallery, it is probably because you entered the incorrect email address on the mobile settings page. If so, simply update your settings to correct the problem.

If your upload failed, Glowfoto should have sent your phone a message saying that no file was received or an error occurred. Contained in this message should be the correct email address for your phone. Enter that email address in your mobile settings and try again.

The other possibility is that your phone is not sending the photo, but a link to the photo on your service provider's server. Sprint seems to be the only provider who does this. We have not figured out a way around this yet, but if you are able to get an answer from Sprint (or whatever provider you are using) please let us know so we can share it with everyone else. For the time being, we recommend calling Sprint and asking them what you have to do to send photos as an email attachment, not as a link.

I have Sprint, why doesn't this work?!?
You should also read the previous answer. For some reason, Sprint seems to insist on hosting your pics on Sprint servers and emailing a link to an image only. Glowfoto Mobile requires your image to be sent as an email attachment (exactly the way T-Mobile and Cingular do it). Unfortunately, we can't work around this problem.

We recommend you call Sprint and either find out how to send images as attachments rather than links, or demand that they give you the option if they don't already. If you find out how to make Glowfoto Mobile work with Sprint phones, can you please let us know?
